Interviewer: Um, when you hear the word cult, what comes to your mind?
Interviewee: Bike polo, okay — say, the specific club I currently belong to. Yeah, I guess it's culty, because it's very — it's very niche. It's a random... — I don't know, it's a subset, sub-world, and subset of society, in a way. I guess it's not really a belief system, except that we have the "shuffle gods" [referring to the random in which teams are selected in bike polo].
Interviewee: And it's a very close-knit community with little chapters around the world. We're all encouraged to go to other locations to meet up with other members of the community periodically, and come together and frolic in our celebration of the world, and life, and our existence.
Interviewee: And, yeah, it's interesting — we love the same traditions and rituals everywhere in the world. It's always interesting to realize, like, how did it get there? How do we all do the same thing? Do we all shuffle the same way? We have a lot of the same — what's it called, the term in German... "Selbstverständlichkeit" ? — concepts that we kind of take for granted, yeah. It's culty in that way.
