Interviewee: 36 years old, female, main language Turkish, speaking in English, lives in Germany, nationality Turkish.

Interviewer: Okay. So, when I say the word "cult," what comes to your mind?

Interviewee: When you say the word cult, it comes to my mind — religious cults in Turkey.

Interviewer: Do they have specific names?

Interviewee: Yes, I think one is led by Fethullah Gülen, and the other one is led by another guy whose name I forgot.

Interviewer: What makes them a cult, in your opinion?

Interviewee: Because they have a singular leader, it's not easy to get into the group, you have to go through an integration process, and it's a very closed community.

Interviewee: Actually — there's one more that comes to mind now, called Menzil, I think, on the east side — or something like this, east side of Turkey. They have a whole town for themselves; getting in and out is controlled. And the members have to live by the rules of the group — very strict rules.
